Small Business Grant Contest
A total of $9,000 was awarded at our second Warren County Small Business Grant Contest. The contest began with over 20 applicants that were narrowed down to three finalists in two categories: Existing Business and Start-Up Business. Finalists presented their business idea to a panel of judges at a special event held at Simpson College on October 12th.
The Outside Scoop's Joe Doering, winner of the $6,000 existing business grant, will be using the grant funding primarily to enhance his Indianola building with façade improvements. During Doering's presentation he announced plans to expand outside seating options, add an awning to increase shade cover, add a new lighted sign, and completely overhaul the paint job of Outside Scoop's exterior. Doering also announced expansion prospects for the future as well as prospective new partnership opportunities.
Promark Glass, winner of the $3,000 start-up business grant, will be using funds to help with startup costs. Robert Bailey plans to open a shop in Indianola to base his business out of and use any additional funds for vehicle signage and marketing. We look forward to seeing this new business develop and grow.
The grant contest was a project of Warren County Economic Development's Learn|Grow|Succeed small business support initiative.
