Bob Sandy

Bob Sandy exemplifies the qualities of leadership in his career, as a volunteer, as a member of various organizations, and in his daily life. Mr. Sandy has committed his life to help make Warren County a better place to live. Bob has never been a member of anything in name only but is truly an active member of each and every organization.

Bob Sandy was born in Liberty Center and has lived in Warren County his whole life. He was the first member of his family to go to college. While he was a student in civil engineering at Iowa State University, he worked for Warren County in the summers. After graduating from college he worked at the Department of Transportation. Both of these jobs helped him when he returned to work at Warren County where he eventually became Warren County Engineer.

Many organizations have benefited from their association with Bob Sandy. He has been an active member in the Lions Club for over 40 years and is a past president. As a member of the Lions Club he helped with the collecting of eyeglasses and worked with supporting Little League.

Bob was a Little League coach and also president of the group. He volunteered his services as engineer to design the fields for the high school baseball fields.

Mr. Sandy was on the initial Balloon Committee to bring balloon competitions to Warren County.

He is a member of the Presbyterian Church and a part of their Session.

Bob received an award last year from Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) for 55 years of service to the county.

For over 20 years, Bob was a sports announcer for the local radio station, announcing games for Indianola High School and Simpson College. Simpson College awarded him for his service.

Bob Sandy is a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Communication Specialist. The skills learned have served him well as this ability to be an excellent communicator is a quality that makes him a leader in all that he does. He is a member of the VFW.

Today Bob is still serving his county as Warren County Supervisor.
