Kent Britten Memorial Leadership Award
2008 Kent Britten Leadership Award
Dave Zwanziger
The Kent Britten Memorial Leadership Award was presented to Dave Zwanziger of Indianola on April 17, 2008. The award was given during the graduation ceremony for the 2008 Class of the Warren County Leadership Institute. Dave Zwanziger was honored for the excellent qualities of leadership that he has displayed while serving Warren County. A donation to be used as a scholarship was made in Mr. Zwanziger's name to the Warren County Leadership Institute.
Todd Kielkopf, in his nomination of Dave Zwanziger for the Kent Britten Memorial Leadership Award, wrote that Zwanziger has demonstrated a “commitment to seeing that we live in a progressive and growing community. When opportunities that will benefit Warren County occur, Dave helps organize the resources needed for the community to be successful”.
In 1993, Mr. Zwanziger was a charter board member of the Warren County Leadership Institute and served in many roles, including treasurer.
Additionally, Mr. Zwanziger has served on several other boards and commissions and is currently a Trustee of Indianola Municipal Utilities. According to Kielkopf's nomination, “Zwanziger's leadership during the transition between General Managers was instrumental to keeping the utility operating at a high level. Dave has taken the time to plan, implement, evaluate, and reorganize when the situation calls. And that is what leadership is all about”.
The Warren County Leadership Institute committee was proud to present the 2008 Kent Britten Memorial Leadership Award to a well-deserving Warren County resident.
The Kent Britten Memorial Leadership Award is named in honor of Kent Britten, Warren County Leadership Institute Class of 2000 and WCLI Board Member until his unexpected death in March 2005. “Kent was a man who was humble and would do anything he was asked. He was an inspiration and magnificent role model for all. He was involved in more volunteer opportunities than most are involved in their entire lifetimes. He had a great passion for life that was obvious and was a major reason for his success. This showed in how he was always giving to help others. Kent made the world a much better place to be. We thank God for what he achieved in his short life and that he displayed this with so much class.” In memoriam by fellow alumnus Rick Wilson, WCLI Class of 1998.
